Ms. Louard-Michel is a visionary supportive housing professional with more than twenty-five years of experience in the field. She joins Lantern from Unique People Services, a New York nonprofit that serves disadvantaged members of society, where she served as Senior Director of Real Estate & Development. Prior to her time at UPS, Ms. Louard-Michel worked as a leader at the Corporation for Supportive Housing (CSH) for nearly two decades, where she was involved in many initiatives, including: design and implementation of the New York/New York II and III programs; new construction design prototype for NYS Office of Mental Health (OMH) which produced over 10,000 efficiency apartments statewide; multi-disciplinary effort to remove legal & statutory barriers to private equity investment in state funded projects–reducing OMH bond costs by 25%; supervised targeted technical assistance to non-profit providers and government funders to inform “best practices” and address implementation challenges of supportive housing for homeless child welfare involved families, criminal justice involved individuals, and active users; represented CSH in launch of $200M New York Acquisition Fund, a model for catalytic private sector investment in subsidized housing; helped create incentives for commercial lenders and for-profit developers to participate in supportive housing production.
Ms. Louard-Michel holds a master’s degree in historic preservation from Columbia University, and a bachelor’s degree in architecture from Yale University. She has served on the Board of Directors for Community Access and Project Hospitality and as an at-large member of the New York City Coalition for the Continuum of Care.
