CLEAR (Choosing Life: Empowerment! Action! Results!) is an evidence-based and client-centered health promotion intervention, which uses one-on-one cognitive behavioral techniques to change behavior among people living with HIV. Lantern began introducing CLEAR at one of our sites in fall 2016, to improve health outcomes among the quarter of our clients living with HIV/AIDS.
The Latino Commission on AIDS, funded by the CDC, conducted an initial needs assessment in Lantern’s services and is now providing training and technical assistance to staff. CLEAR is delivered by the client’s case manager and consists of a range of sessions designed to build cognitive and behavioral skills. Clients and case managers to identify an appropriate prevention goal, choosing from addressing sexual risk, substance use risk, health care and self care, treatment adherence, disclosure, and HIV stigma.
CLEAR is generously supported by the Design Industries Foundation Fighting AIDS (DIFFA).
